This story is more game than book. This was one of the most stat-based choice game books I have ever read. Aside from the minimal character development and dialogue the story is written well and the stats work perfectly. The story could have used more depth: specifically in regards to the enemies, the planets, the spaceships. There are other stories that are far more descriptive with a more enjoyable storyline. The best part about this was the intricate stats and how well they work together.

I liked this game quite a lot. The storyline is very reminiscent of Battlestar Galactica: you are leading a ragtag fleet fleeing the aliens who attacked your homeworld. There are military and civilian tensions, politics, and strategic and resource decisions that affect the outcome of future battles. My only complaints (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) are (1) it is rather linear and not too original; (2) it's quite short for the price - you can play through the whole thing in less than an hour.

I love most of the other CoG games but this one is definitely a step down. It's rather short and very linear. IMO, not really worth the $2.99. Maybe .99 at most. It's not bad, but it definitely could be fleshed out a bit more, especially the relationships with your crew and the ambassadors, as well as the battles. If this was done, then the price would be justified I think.
