About this app

Already organized your music in folders? Folder Player gives you direct access to your audio library since 2010 :)
Folder Player is FREE (NO Ads, NO in-app purchases!), minimalistic but powerful alternative music player which uses folders to play music or audiobooks.
Play directories the same way you play individual audio tracks.

Longer Story:

Folder Player is a freeware which knows how to play whole directories. It can browse and play individual files, folders, or full folder trees.

Why another music player for Android?

There are many great mp3 players out there. If you're happy with them, you probably don't need another one. But chances are, you have the same problem as I had before I created this app - you tried many players, and your mp3 tag-based access to your music still too cumbersome, because your world defined - yes - by folders.

Is Folder Player a solution?
****************************

If you need advanced capabilities of a desktop player - Folder Player is probably not the right fit.
This player focuses on things that really are important: browsing and playing music on a portable device, and that's exactly what makes this app stand out.

You can learn more, or leave your feedback at http://folderplayer.com

If you like the player - it is important to rate this app - here is why:
More people rate it -> more people see it -> more feedback -> more updates

(by the way, same applies to other apps you like, rate them too!)

Other features include:

- integration with Bluetooth headphones
- Android Auto
- integration with last.fm (via scrobbler)
- pauses during phone calls and navigation speech
- sequential and random play
- configurable settings
- Equalizer
- Double press headset button to skip track
- Search
- Temporary playlist "Play Next"

I would like to thank all the fans of this app, for your feedback, donations, and translations.

The last update messed up my music files! JUST AFTER THIS LAST UPDATE! Meaning my whole music collection is on memory card but after the update this app wouldn't play all of my collection which it did before the last update. It now keeps goving No Audio files detected here for alot of tracks but when I use rival apps the whole misic collection shows.

I've installed this on several devices throughout the last 5 or so years. Basically flawless! Edit 9/19/23: Thanks to the developer's gracious support, we were able to narrow down the issue to an option that doesn't seem to work on my phone. Disabling that option (gapless playback) fixed the problem. No more random silence! Everything works as expected. Still the best mp3 player, hands down! Surf Wisely.

Considering regular version was not updated for several months, there is something unusual happening with the phone or app settings probably. In any case, pls drop me a line peter@shashkin.com I want you to try the most updated version, curious how that will work on your device, thanks

I am starting with 3 stars, having just installed it and set it up to be useful. After a system update made my previous tolerable MP3 player non-functional, I spent 3 hours installing and quickly uninstalling 2 dozen players. There is a long list of things wrong with the other players: they can't find my add-on SD card (won't look in the right place); they ignore directory structure and either give me a soup of 400 folders (albums) in alphabetical order or give me a choice of 30 versions of "Track 1"; they don't allow A-Z alphabetical sorting (how can you *not* include that). They think black-on-black microprint is cool. Anyhow, it took me 2 minutes to install and set up, including knowing where my music is on startup; *it allows large type and high-contrast background!!* (visual problems). No ads. Every other program, I rate -6. I haven't had time to really use this, but I'll be back and will bump up the star count if the experience doesn't go suddenly bad. ___ I've now used it for a few months. A really nice feature is "where was I", given how easy it is to accidentally touch your phone and thereby get lost. There are some features that you just have to learn (pressing the play button on a folder is not the same as pressing the play button on the first file in a folder). Occasionally it just stops playing for no reason, and that could be phone specific, but you fire it up and it know where to re-start, I'd say the experience was good, and I'm willing to spend money on this.
