About this app

Now customize style and shortcuts with the Retro Clock Settings app, for sale on Google Play!

Retro Clock Widget was one of the first clock widgets available for android and has been downloaded by millions of users over the years.

This app provides a home screen clock and date widget based on the classical mechanical flipping clock. The widgets act as shortcuts to the systems alarm clock and calendar applications.

When you want to customize the look and feel (like the colors, transparency, or shortcut applications), you can do so using the Retro Clock Settings companion app also available on Google Play.

To use the widget:
- long press an empty spot on the home screen
- select "Widgets"
- tap on Retro Clock / Date to add it to the home screen

Surprisingly one of the few digital date and time widgets that doesn't have ads or in-app purchases. Although it was slightly disappointing to see that the numbers don't actually display a "flip" animatjon when the time changes, a la other implementations. What's the point of the black line through all the text if it doesn't mean anything? :P

I love this app. I've been using it for years. I just got the new Galaxy S10+. When I click on the clock widget, it opens the clock app like normal. When I click the date widget, it doesn't do anything. I had to install Google Calendar. It should bring up the system's default calendar. Please fix! I don't want to be forced to use another widget!

I used to really like this widget but now it seems that the time and date doesnt adjust accurately anymore. My time is very often half an hour to 45 minutes late. That's a fairly useless clock if you ask me. [I like adding this to my home screen, even though it's redundant to the clock already in the top corner, this one is eye catching and simple to read. Just something nice to look at. Forecloses sometimes when I use my own home launcher though.] Prior thoughts on this widget
