About this app

Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.

• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.

• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 40 people.

• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.

• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.

• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.

• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

So they fixed the message editing, but they messed up the camera. I now can't press and hold the shutter button to record a video. I don't think there is a video recording capability at all anymore. Unless they hid it somewhere? Also, taking a picture now is horrible. Why does the picture zoom in after I take it? People go forward, not backward, signal. One more star off from the three I had. Only 2 stars for you until you fix these issues.

Security features make app unusable. Daily kicks me off my computer and tells me to scan with the signal app. I rarely have a phone on me when this happens. Also kicks me out of the app and asks me to use 2fa to log back in. This is of course only possible when I'm in my home country, which is rare. There's a point where "security" becomes "unusability", and Signal crosses that line by so many miles I think we changed universes.

So far it's been great. I don't like the fact that you can't use signal across multiple devices. I have a backup phone and a tablet and a PC. I want to have them all together with the same signal app. Not multiple accounts. (That I don't have). It would just make life easier if SIGNAL WAS ABLE TO BE USED ON MULTIPLE DEVICES AT THE SAME TIME.

What's new

★ Now you can react with any emoji during a Signal call. Smile even if your camera is off, share a heart if you love what you're hearing, or vote for sushi instead of pizza without saying a word. And you'll even see an animation of everyone's emojional outburst if enough people in the call react with the same emoji all at once.
★ We also added a shortcut to edit sent messages by double tapping on the message bubble. Double taps aren't just for likes, unless you really like editing typos.
