About this ebook

"Farrugia! Bringin' the awesome from the first headshot to the last 'splosion." – John Birmingham, author of the Axis of Time and Disappearance trilogies.

The Fifth Column: the world's most powerful and secretive organization. They run our militaries. They run our governments. They run our terrorist cells.

Recruited as a child, Sophia is a deniable operative for the Fifth Column. Like all operatives, Sophia's DNA has been altered to augment her senses and her mind is splintered into programmed subsets.

On a routine mission in Iran something goes catastrophically wrong. Bugs are beginning to appear in Sophia's programming and the mission spins out of control.

High-speed chases, gun fights, helicopter battles, immortal psychopaths, super soldiers and mutant abilities are all in the mix in this edge-of-your-seat action-packed techno-thriller.

Perfect for fans of Matthew Reilly, The Chimera Vector melds sci-fi with sizzling espionage action.

THE FIFTH COLUMN SERIES:

Saying that this book is fast paced is a massive understatement - in fact in some places I found myself struggling to keep up! This isn't a big deal, as I generally do enjoy a briskly paced book (I'm a big Matthew Reilly fan, who I still believe sets a perfect pace). The whole secret operatives and shadowy all-controlling organisations theme certainly isn't new, and early in the book I couldn't help but drawing parallels to that boring 2010 adaptation of "La Femme Nikita". I was fortunately able to move past that as more of the story developed, particularly regarding the Chimera Vector and the science fiction of programming people (which was quite cool). I did find the latter part of the book to be a bit jumpy, which is I guess where I struggled to keep up with the pace. Conversely I found the action sequences felt a little too "over-described" - it's tough for a writer to keep a balance of exactly what and how much information needs to be described in such sequences. Overall it was an enjoyable read and I would definitely recommend it to any action lovers. I also support the Author's anti-DRM stance (despite having DRM issues when I purchased through Google Play).

From the first page i was totally hooked! Action packed and fast paced, drawing you into the story like your standing there watching. I seriously couldnt put it down until the battery went dead. This is seriously a great read, well written and i cannot wait for more! If your into action tech scifi or all of the above: you MUST read this!

I'll say more anyway! The Chimera Vector is truly fast-paced - filled with guns, grenades and action sequences that would put any of the latest Hollywood flicks to shame. And in between all the brain splatter and debris, it still makes you connect with the characters enough that you really don't want them to get 'sploded. Definitely worth a read if you like things that go 'BANG' and 'KABLOOEY' but still like using your brain cells every now and then. Looking forward to the next installment!
