About this ebook

Poetry That Stirs... consists of poems that were written by the author. They go from telling stories to sharing wisdom. They seek to relate in some way to the reader and wish to reach out to the world, one word at a time.

About the author

Theodros Jeffrey, also known by his pen-name as The Tickly Turtle, was born in Guyana (formally British Guiana), South America, and has been a lover of poetry ever since he was a child. The fact that words could be expressed in so many different ways and carry messages of inspiration and tell stories, got to him.

At the age of seven, he started writing small bits of poetry. However, as time rolled on, he took a break from the venture, because of the demands in school and other affairs. He did consider writing bits and pieces of poetry on and off, but never really stuck to it.

Years later, he moved over to Canada to attend university in Nova Scotia. It was here that his thirst for poetry returned. The words of an English poetry and theatre professor re-awakened his love for poetry. He was captured by the use of words, their many flavors, and the icons of history that expressed this inner most thoughts through the use of many familiar and unfamiliar words. In the words of the poet, “they painted a beautiful picture upon the gallery walls of my mind”.

Since then, Theodros has been writing poetry. He has completed this, his first volume. He hopes to have his poetry read by many people who are fans of poetry and freedom of expression through use of words.

“I may not be an artist with paints and brushes, but I am capable of painting beautiful pictures on the canvas of your mind through use of words” - Theodros Jeffrey
