Wow! I've had no sleep. Barely stopped to eat as I read from cover to cover. I read all the Midkemia years ago and never thought to read the Kelewan stories. Again, WOW! The plot is intriguing and twisting and the world building is exemplary as always. I love the closer look at the Cho-Ja too. Janny Wurts brings a sophistication and perspective that I have enjoyed. Makes me want to dig out the old paperbacks and reread the Midkemia novels and spot the differences between the authors. Well going to download the next in the series after I get some sleep...or maybe I'll just read the first chapter...

The authors really developed Mara as a character seeing all sides of her emotions. The many likeable and intended unlikeable characters worked so well. The plots, deceit and intrigue of the empire is so engrossing. Bought the next book straight away.

These are undoubtedly one of the finest trilogies I have read in my long reading career. Mara is a superb heroin. Although related to the Riftwar books it can be read on it's own. I've read this set 3 times now I'm going to get acquainted
