About this ebook

"A harrowing, perverse, laugh-aloud funny rocket ride of catastrophes…Gutsy, terse and cunning, Invisible Monsters may emerge as Palahniuk’s strongest book." —Greg Berkman, Seattle Times

She’s a fashion model who has everything: a boyfriend, a career, a loyal best friend. But when a sudden freeway "accident" leaves her disfigured and incapable of speech, she goes from being the beautiful center of attention to being an invisible monster, so hideous that no one will acknowledge she exists. Enter Brandy Alexander, Queen Supreme, one operation away from becoming a real woman, who will teach her that reinventing yourself means erasing your past and making up something better. And that salvation hides in the last places you’ll ever want to look.

Jump back to me first starting the book and being confused. Jump back to me actually starting to enjoy the book after a few interesting plot twists. Jump back to me getting confused again. Jump back to me writing a review saying how it's one of those books that you finish reading and then say "Okay that was... something else" and never pick back up again or even think about anymore. It's just too unusual. Wouldn't really recommend it to anyone. Maybe I didn't "get it". Whatever! Basically it's a story about how everybody wants to change genders.

Palahniuk is a very original writer, with intriguing voice, interesting structure, and depressing themes. The book is essentially about three people running away from their unsatisfying lives and destroying themselves in the process. Full of twists and crazy situations, I highly recommend this book.

So many well developed Chucky characters, but Brandy is truly memorable. This was a fully realized vision right down to the magazine style of pacing. The beauty of this work is that its so vile and tragic, I can't help but want the narrator & Brandy to sweep into my open house and rummage thru my medicine cabinet! Should be required reading! PLEASE DONT MAKE A MOVIE IF U HAVE TO COMPROMISE!
