"The Maze Runner" is a gripping dystopian thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. With a fast-paced plot and a mysterious setting, it hooks readers from the very first page. The characters are compelling, their unique quirks and well developed characters and their struggle for survival in the maze is both intense and captivating. The book's twists and turns keep readers guessing until the very end, making it a must-read for fans of suspenseful YA fiction. Overall, "The Maze Runner" is a thrilling ride that leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next installment.

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! My wife listened to the audiobook version over a year ago. When she described the story, I could not have been any less interested. We went as a family to see the movie and I loved it! I sought out the book to compare it to the movie. Even though I already knew the story, the book had me riveted from start to finish. It was written in a plain, simple style. The characters were, for the most part, well-developed. Despite being a YA novel, it was easy for me as an adult to read. I admit to being highly annoyed by the teenage angst that beats readers over the head. For this reason, I avoid a lot of YA novels. But The Maze Runner has none of this. The story unfolds at a steady clip that kept me locked in throughout. I felt the ending was a little anti-climatic (perhaps because I already knew what happened), but it was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to book 2.

100%, without a flipping doubt, one of the best books I have read. I read it in two nights and both mornings after I paid dearly at work for staying up until two or three in the morning because I would not, COULD not put this down. From the very first sentence (literally the very first sentence) I was hooked. I am going to keep my copy and save it for my kids to read when they get older. That dude (the author) knows how to knock out one wicked-awesome story. (And no, I am not the author nor am I associated with selling this book in any way. I just really, really enjoyed it)
Update:
I finally got my hands on the sequel, "The Scorch Trials". And again, the author just totally blows me away with this fiercely entertaining storyline that he created. I'm about 2/3 of the way done and cannot wait for the end. In the sequel, more hints are given regarding why all this is happening. Seriously...way, way cool and although not quite done with Scorch I am already looking forward to the conclusion coming out (according to his web site) sometime next year.
UPDATE:
The Death Cure, the last book in this series, is a severe disappointment. I still standby my first two posts (above) as I shall read them again (the books that is) when the movies are released. But the third was not nearly as good as the two.
