Spoiler Alert: So in the second book Vin is "Concerned that there is a traitor in their midst" when she's concerned about one of her friends is possibly the enemy Kandra. Thing is 1: the Kandra is an imposter so and it is not your friend so it can't be a traitor. 2: the Kandra imitates by eating a person's corpse. So shouldn't she be a bit upset at the thought that one of her friends is dead and there's a thing running around looking like her friend after eating her friend? This part annoys me greatly.

As others have noted the first book is the best of the bunch. A little predictable and the chapter blurbs feel like too much hand holding. Still kept me interested right to the slightly disappointing end. Some of the character development is very well done, but the supporting cast is fairly 2 dimensional. I will try way of kings.

Amazing vision of a unique fantasy world rendered in a sort of baroque
steampunk magic style. Epic battles and heroes, set in a dramatic and
unsettling world that comes to a satisfying conclusion. I felt it dragged a
bit in some sections for me, getting into more detail before advancing the
plot. But overall, a great series with a strong sense of place and time.
