About this ebook

"An inspired, utterly fascinating book….A book for everyone who would like to make the world a better place."—Jane Goodall This unique and fundamentally liberating book shows us that examining our attitudes toward money—earning it, spending it, and giving it away—can offer surprising insight into our lives, our values, and the essence of prosperity.

Lynne Twist, a global activist and fundraiser, has raised more than $150 million for charitable causes. Through personal stories and practical advice, she demonstrates how we can replace feelings of scarcity, guilt, and burden with experiences of sufficiency, freedom, and purpose. In this Nautilus Award-winning book, Twist shares from her own life, a journey illuminated by remarkable encounters with the richest and poorest, from the famous (Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama) to the anonymous but unforgettable heroes of everyday life.

I started the book somewhat cynically given some of the clear connectors with various leadership development programs I'm wary of. But the ideas, spirit - and soul of course - are extremely timely, smart and worthy of considering and implementing into my life.

Excellent. This book transformed my relationship with money. For the first time in my life, I stopped focusing on what I didn't have and started appreciating what I did have. This was at the beginning of the Recession. I had no worries through major layoffs -- I just kept focusing on what I had, what I was grateful for, and if I was laid off, what I could take on, such as starting my own business. The result was that my home life remained calm in the midst of chaos and now for the first time, I am able to be their for my adult children while they are going through rough times with their families. A year ago, this would not have been the case as I never had enough money to do anything for my children. I'm not saying it's easy, but there is definitely a peace and I feel free to focus on the important things.

Transformational. Breaking down false beliefs or beliefs that don't contribute to creating the world you want. I gained access to more compassion as I understood I judged a person's need for compassion relative to their access to resources. I see money as my vote everyday in the world I want. I can make a difference now.
