About this ebook

Discover the phenomenal #1 bestselling sequel to Gone With the Wind: "true to Scarlett's spirit," this inventive novel beautifully continues Margaret Mitchell's timeless tale (Chicago Tribune).
The most popular and beloved American historical novel ever written, Gone With the Wind is unparalleled in its portrayal of men and women at once larger than life but as real as ourselves. Now Alexandra Ripley brings us back to Tara and reintroduces us to the characters we remember so well: Rhett, Ashley, Mammy, Suellen, Aunt Pittypat, and, of course, Scarlett.
As the classic story, first told over half a century ago, moves forward, the greatest love affair in all fiction is reignited; amidst heartbreak and joy, the endless, consuming passion between Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler reaches its startling culmination. Rich with surprises at every turn and new emotional, breathtaking adventures, Scarlett satisfies our longing to reenter the world of Gone With the Wind. Like its predecessor, Scarlett will find an eternal place in our hearts.

I made two mistakes when this waa first released in 1991; pre-ordeing, paying full price for te hardcover and then reading this. It's a waste of resources to print and market this book in any format; not to mention the wasted time and money of the readers who buy this awful book. Critics and fans of the original novel felt that it was bad and it was panned by but clay critics worldwide. It's in the top five on my list of the worst books I've read and I'd give it zero stars if I could!

When I first started reading it, I was excited because of my love of the original. But Scarlett has become a bland character, losing the fire she had in the first book. Too long, too boring, but worth a read for any GwtW fan.

I love this story. I respect that an entirely different scope unexpectedly arises in setting and history. Along with it, Scarlett matures and what seemed a dark and questionable ending is settled at long last. Mrs. Ripley foretold changes stagnant people do not wish to understand, so this book is marked a disgrace--by the very minds who love that "flaw" in Rhett and Scarlett? Open your minds--The war was/is over.
