I remember seeing the movie and enjoying it. I didn't realize that it came from such a book until now.
The book, while dark and cold, always gave a sense of hope and confidence. Sara's ability to see the positive in the negative and her creativity can give even the dreamless adult a tingle of hope.
While, the book adds details, that seem at times, unnessessary, I was captivated into Sara's world of imagination.

I have loved this book ever since I was really little and read the adapted"junior" version. Reminds you that no matter how bad off you are, there is someone much worse off. That no matter how terrible some people can be to you, YOU are who decides how YOU are to people...how much better off could kids and adults be to each other if everyone was forced to read and could understand this classic book? ALSO: MANY THANKS to Google for having this available as a free book. Terrific choice :D

I loved the movie when I was young and it just so happens that I still enjoy it, so when I had a chance to read the book I jumped on that chance. The book is different from the movie but I think the book gives a better moral than the movie. The book shows a clearer picture of how sweet a child Sara really was, and how even though she went through such a tough time she remained tuff and stayed true to herself
