About this ebook

This is the story of how a Baggins had an adventure, and found himself doing and saying things altogether unexpected...

‘A flawless masterpiece’
The Times

Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely travelling further than the pantry of his hobbit-hole in Bag End. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard, Gandalf, and a company of thirteen dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day, to whisk him away on a journey ‘there and back again’. They have a plot to raid the treasure hoard of Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon...

The prelude to THE LORD OF THE RINGS, THE HOBBIT has sold many millions of copies since its publication in 1937, establishing itself as one of the most beloved and influential books of the twentieth century.

It is a good book. It provides nice comical relief and Mr Tolkien succeeded in showing how absurd hoarding can be. Also, reading this book after watching the movies is a good Idea as it will help you in better visualising the scenes from the book .

The Hobbit by JRR TOLKIEN is one of the best books ever written. I have loved professor Tolkiens works ever since I first read this! I would recommend this epic novel to anyone interested in sci-fi/ fantasy books! If you are lucky enough to have access to this beautiful, rich piece of work, try and read it before the awe-insiring sequel (Lord of the rings) as it sets up a lot of the history and background of Lord of the rings. I hope whoever is reading this will take my advice!
