The book was not great. It was predictable, and without their sicknesses the characters had no real defining features. Gus is pretentious and Hazel is boring. Very disappointed as it cave with such high recommendations from the internet. I have had family members die of cancer, and known many cancer survivors. The book did not properly capture it. Teenagers don't talk like that. I did like the subject, just was not well executed. A black sheep in John greens usually will written portfolio.

In my opinion this book was okay but not great. I loved John Green's other books, but I wasn't as impressed by this one. There are several amazing and insightful quotes, however I did not think about this book for days and days like I did after finishing Looking for Alaska. So many people loved it, so I may have to reread it later and see if I missed something. Overall I would recommend it, simply because its always fun to read John Green's witty style of writing.

I literally bought this book because of the reviews. The book itself is short, and while it is good, it is definitely not "Amazing 5/5" as many people here claim. I've never heard of this book outside of Google play. the book itself is short. Especially short for $5. While i like romance genre as much as anyone else, this story left me thinking, that's it? the entire time I was reading I was hoping for this dramatic ending that would be great and leave me satisfied. No such ending was found. 3/5. Average.
