Feels cartoonish, good action but lacks depth and sufficient level of realism to help reader accept and 'get into the book'. I stopped reading after too many simplistic twists, the last one was when the hero walks into a setting with a thousand of dead/mummified bodies, and just happens to randomly inspect the 'right' body that has an ancient map hidden under its clothing, essential to find a tomb. Very disappointing, sorry I spent $$s on this book.

The first half was pretty exciting but then the author started explaining everything in way too much detail. Also offered too much historical background on Attila and the Huns that it became a bore to read. The end was somewhat exciting but really dragged at the same time.

Always exciting, always an adventure, The Tombs takes the reader on a wild, hair-raising worldwide chase that simply leaves us breathless and thoroughly sated as we sail, dive, dig, hide, fight, conquer, love and laugh alongside Sam and Remi Fargo once more. WoW!
About the author
Clive Cussler was the author of more than seventy books in five bestselling series, including Dirk Pitt®, NUMA Files®, Oregon Files®, Isaac Bell®, and Sam and Remi Fargo®. His life nearly paralleled that of his hero Dirk Pitt. Whether searching for lost aircraft or leading expeditions to find famous shipwrecks, he and his NUMA crew of volunteers discovered and surveyed more than seventy-five lost ships of historic significance, including the long-lost Confederate submarine Hunley, which was raised in 2000 with much publicity. Like Pitt, Cussler collected classic automobiles. His collection featured more than one hundred examples of custom coachwork. Cussler passed away in February 2020.
Thomas Perry is the highly acclaimed author of twenty novels, including the Edgar Award®–winning The Butcher’s Boy and the seven novels in the popular Jane Whitefield series, most recently Poison Flower.
