About this ebook

In a world where magic is tightly controlled, the most powerful man in history must choose between his kingdom and his son - in the first book of the New York Times bestselling Lightbringer series. Perfect for fans of Brandon Sanderson, Robin Hobb and Joe Abercrombie.

EVERY LIGHT CASTS A SHADOW.

Guile is the Prism, the most powerful man in the world. He is high priest and emperor, a man whose power, wit, and charm are all that preserves a tenuous peace. Yet Prisms never last, and Guile knows exactly how long he has left to live.

When Guile discovers he has a son, born in a far kingdom after the war that put him in power, he must decide how much he's willing to pay to protect a secret that could tear his world apart.

Well i read the whole book in like 3 three days. The magic system in this series is very good as comapred to other fantasy novels. It takes a little bit time to understand the system fully. The book is fully plot driven. There is a lot of action and chapters dedicated to full scale war. However i must warn you that this book is a little bit dark too.Villians in this book are not afraid to kill a child etc.I recommend this book to anyone who likes epic fantasy novels. Its a must read for fantasy novel lovers

I expected better after his first amazing series and because of that series I preserved where with others I would have turned away. The story is a bit slow to develop but it does get better. Good enough to start book 2 hoping it goes from better to great.

The plot seems even more interesting then the one in the Night Angel trilogy, which I sincerely love. I love the simplicity and coherence in the magic system here. The lies in the book keep things interesting, complicated and very entertaining. Definitely worth reading!

About the author

Brent Weeks studied at Hillsdale College, before brief stints walking the earth like Caine from KUNG FU, also tending bar and corrupting the youth (not at the same time). He started writing on napkins and, eventually, someone paid him for it. Brent doesn't own cats or wear a ponytail.
