About this ebook

The new English Standard Version TM translation is founded on the belief that the words of the Bible are the very words of God. Setting itself apart from other translations by sacrificing neither accuracy nor readability, the ESV is an essentially literal translation that seeks to duplicate the original texts while taking into account the differences between modern English and the original languages.Relying on the work of more than 50 Bible scholars, as well as the input of a 60-member, multi-denominational Advisory Council, the translation committee chaired by J.I. Packer realized its goals of word-for-word precision and accuracy, literary excellence and readability, and depth of meaning. Written in language beautiful enough to be used for public reading, clear enough for preaching and devotions, and trustworthy enough for academic study, the ESV sets a new standard -- and is truly a Bible for all people.

Full of plot holes, contradictions, liberal use of deus ex machina, repetitive restatment of the key plot points, and just overall totally rubbish writing, the "Holy Bible" is one of the worst books I have ever read. While the protagonists change often, the stories are tied together by the use of a hidden "Lord" whom is narcissistic and egotistical and acts like a total idiot for someone who claims omnipresence and omniscience.

Embellishments in the oral traditions, no condemnation of slavery, repetitive stories, new testament written by a car salesman, and just brainwashing nonsense. Forcing people not to question things because it's easier to be a sheep. This book should have been less than a 1000 pages and put under "self help" with all other non scientific writings.

My parents grown up reading the king James version which they still do, but they are more skeptical than they were before I became a young adult. Needless to say, I became an atheist once I started becoming more educated in sciences and how so much stuff in the bible contradicts itself. Personally, I believe the bible is just another fantasy story like any other fictional book; this is why I am so dumbfounded by how many people believe there was a talking snake who convinced Adam and Eve to eat an apple from the forbidden tree of knowledge. I'm sorry, but I live in reality where I know nothing like this happened 6,000 years ago. -Andrew Boggs, a guy who thinks rationally about everything.
