About this ebook

Introducing a major new thriller writer—in the vein of Vince Flynn and Brad Thor—and an electrifying character, Dewey Andreas.

A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.
While the intelligence and law enforcement agencies scramble to untangle these events and find the people responsible, the mysterious figure of Alexander Fortuna—an agent embedded into the highest levels of American society and business—sets into play the second stage of these long-planned attacks. The only fly in the ointment is Dewey Andreas—who is using all his long-dormant skills to fight his way off the platform, then out of Colombia and back to the U.S., following the trail of terrorists and operatives sent to stop him. Power Down is a gripping, compelling debut thriller from Ben Coes, a powerful new author, an amazing talent certain to join the ranks of the genre's finest writers.

Terrorists plot against America's energy production ability. They blow up a hydroelectric dam in Canada and then strike at the Captiana oil platform near Columbia. However when the terrorists strike against the oil platform, they are pitted against Dewey Andreas a former Delta in the army and who runs the platform like a "...battalion during wartime." As the terrorists bring Dewey to the pumping station to complete their sabotage, he realizes what the conspiracy is all about. He vows that if he lives, he'd find those responsible and hunt them down. He'd exterminate them and then eliminate those above them and those above them. The attack coincided with the merger of KKB and Anson Energy, a company with the goal of making the U.S. not have to rely on foreign governments for their energy needs. As government officials scramble for answers, we learn who the mastermind of the attacks was. This obsessed man was born in Lebanon and came to the U.S. with another family. He was in deep cover and grew to learn the ways of America and then plot a massive strike against the country. As exciting a thriller as I've read. The action flies off the pages. Dewey is a sympathetic character who the reader wants to succeed in his payback scheme. The FBI is portrayed in a stereotypical manner as bunglers and the fact that a few men can accomplish what the government cannot, seemed a stretch. Even though the story had parts that had been done before, I feel that thriller fans will get a thrill aout of this exciting novel.

Amazing! Action never stopped, Andreas is one of those characters that does it, not stand around and talk about it! Will be looking for more from this author!

I am so glad I decided to read this book after a friend recommended it. Absolutely one one the best thrillers I've read in awhile now and I've read all of Vince Flynn's, Brad Thor's & Tom Clancy's books. It's that good! Do yourself a huge favor and start reading Power Down today! After you're done you will definitely want to read the next two from Coes. Trust me!
