About this ebook

"Brilliantly satiric and savagely funny, Survivor is a wild amphetamine ride through the vagaries of fame and the nature of belief." —San Francisco Chronicle

Tender Branson—last surviving member of the Creedish Death Cult—is dictating his life story into the recorder of Flight 2039, cruising on autopilot at 39,000 feet somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. He is all alone in the airplane, which will crash shortly into the vast Australian outback. But before it does, Branson will unfold the tale of his journey from an obedient Creedish child and humble domestic servant to an ultra-buffed, steroid- and collagen-packed media messiah.

I've been a fan of the movie "Fight Club" for years. I'd wanted to read it for a long time. One day, I was at a book store, and decided to get it, except, they didn't have it. They had a few other books by Palahniuk, and "Survivor" stuck out to me. It was the first Palahniuk book I read. After I finished it, I bought almost his entire anthology. I'm very happy that this was the first of his books I chose to read. It's engaging, and allows the reader to get a feel of Palahniuk's distinctive style (without being distracted by comparing it to a movie, like you would with "Fight Club") before moving into some of his more exotic titles. I have recommended this book to many friends, and every one of them has thoroughly enjoyed it. This book is an excellent place to start in the growing library of Palahniuk titles.

Since Google doesn't have the option to report an error with the book anywhere, I'll put this here. Every time I open the book it does the "looks like you've finished reading" prompt. It's very annoying and I can only hope Google sees this and fixes it.

Palahniuk's writing is very lyrical and fun, although sometimes it can be a bit tedious and repetitive. He's a master of the unreliable narrator. This story is a wild ride full of whiplash inducing twists and turns and delightfully preposterous scenarios.
