About this ebook

From National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor comes an epic fantasy about a mythic lost city and its dark past.

The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around--and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared his dream chose poorly. Since he was just five years old, he's been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the form of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever.

What happened in Weep two hundred years ago to cut it off from the rest of the world? And who is the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo's dreams?

In this sweeping and breathtaking novel by National Book Award finalist Laini Taylor, author of the New York Times bestselling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy, the shadow of the past is as real as the ghosts who haunt the citadel of murdered gods. Fall into a mythical world of dread and wonder, moths and nightmares, love and carnage.

The answers await in Weep.

At first I had trouble settling into this story it just felt like it plodded along, really going nowhere, but I kept reading (I'm a fan of the authors trilogy, dreams of god and monsters). Eventually, this story turned into one I couldn't put down and when I had to, I couldn't wait to pick it up again. I don't really like that this story ended with a giant cliffhanger, but I definitely want to know what happens next with Lazlo.

This is the type of story that needs to be heard in my opinion, the words Laini weaves is so intricate and so complex that It makes me wish I could live in her state of mind for a day. But, this book did have one problem, I can't figure out if I should call it peculiar or cluttered, but the prologue felt cluttered and peculiar at the same time. I'm confused on my feelings about this book. But, if you are a reader who likes to think about the sentances you read, than you shoule definately read this.

I'm a quarter in and trying to figure out why the male character has so many interesting things and plots but as soon as the women are introduced it's about their thin and slender bodies in see through or wet clinging shifts...?? Edit: I stuck with this book and it wasn't my favourite. It was flatly annoying at times, and the love story was too rushed, yet the writing is so wordy I skimmed a lot, esp the cringey descriptions more suited for 13 year olds. The ending was absolutely unsatisfying after 500 pages?! I like the concept of this novel but not it's enactment. There was so much more opportunity for character development. Overall a frustrating read that had awesome potential.
