I really enjoyed this book. Pictures were nice too. Mombi and Tip, the saw-horse, General Jinjur, Woggle-Bug, The Gump, Jellia Jamb were great characters. The ending was a fun suprise to me. I really like the Jack Pumkinhead character. His lovingly child-like stupidness is great. I liked Ozma as well. One of the Best, definitely.

Patronizing attitude towards women seems directed towards the suffragette movement which I think was contemporaneous. Not suitable for young children without explanation.

I read this as a child and loved it. I just read it again now, 30 years later, and found it full of clever humor for adults. It's not all that long either. This makes it an excellent book parents to read to their children, too.
