About this ebook

In this #1 New York Times bestseller, Ellen DeGeneres shares her hilarious take on everything from our most baffling human foibles–including how we behave in elevators, airplanes, and restrooms, and why we’re so scared of the boogeyman–to fashion trends, celebrity, and her secret recipe for Ellen’s Real Frenchy French Toast. Most of all, this witty, engaging book offers insights into the mind of one of America’s most beloved comics.…

Dear Reader,
I was awfully excited when I was asked to write a book. I was however, nervous. I was afraid I didn’t have anything important to say. But when I began writing, I realized that although I don’t know a lot about any one thing, I know a little about a whole bunch of things: baking a pie; dancing; curing the common cold; running the Iditarod–it’s all in the book. And I realized I notice things that maybe some people don’t notice (or they don’t notice that they don’t notice). That’s all in the book, too.

I recall reading this book when I was 14 and cracking up every step of the way. I read it again just recently, almost 20 years later, and it is still an excellent laugh.

In my ideal world, Ellen would read everything I either want (or need) to read first, then re-write it in her words. Seriously. I'm one of those readers who reaches the end of a chapter, only to wipe the sweat from my brow, take another aspirin, and ask myself "What the @+%`#$ did I just read"? There are those who enjoy reading, and then there are those like me - who consider the act to be a valid form of torture. I was completely content with this until it was no longer a choice (It's sort of a rule in college that, in order to get a degree, you must read a book or two). This injustice applies to everyday life... Why read the newspaper when you have the World Wide Web? For those who find relaxation in reading, or join clubs to spread the joy of literature... I must say, "I envy you". I actually read a 'preview' of this book on accident. While Googling Ellen, I stumbled upon "My Point... And I Do Have One". I didn't realize how much I enjoyed reading it until my 'free peek' was over! I bought it and laughed hysterically through it's entirety. I finished the book in only a few short hours. Finally! A book is that's fun to read & I can totally relate to all of it!

Thought it was going to be autobiography and it was just lots of monologues. Funny light reading but not much more.
