I thought that this app would allow me to take photos that will be stored on my Canon camera. Apparently it only takes photos that will store on your phone (camera card show zero photos), and will only allow cr2 files for the 3 day trial period. Also a major bug in that if I turn the live view display in this app off, my camera crashes with a warning I've never seen before. Also, possibly the worst, most confusing ui I've ever seen.

Hello, you can select different image saving modes in Settings - Saving (store to the phone, to the camera's card, or both). The trial period is 30 days, not 3. After that everything is still free except for raw shooting. What's your camera? And can you please describe what it is you found confusing? Thanks for your feedback!

Once the camera connects (6d), the interface becomes incredibly slow and laggy. I do not have the same issues with DSLR controller. I even removed DSLR controller from my phone to see if that was the issue: it wasn't. I tried everything I could think of (it's not the cable), but it still doesn't work right. I'll update this review if you fix it, but as a paying customer, I'm pretty ticked at the moment. DSLR controller hasn't been updated in 3 years and it works better than this does.

This is caused by a conflict with another app that also attempts to access the camera (e. g. Gallery, Photos, or another remote control app - but you said you removed DSLR Controller so we know that's not it). Connect the camera first and turn it on, close any pop-ups and suspicious background apps, and only then run Helicon Remote.

Very good app. I've used it once so far and was impressed. I am using this app with an older Canon 5d MK2. I could not get it to work at first. Firstly I needed to use an OTG cable as mentioned on their website. My camera was not brand new so it did not come with one, so I had to purchase a solid OTG cable. Secondly, I needed to turn on the usb debugging function located within the developer options on my phone. Thirdly, I have an option that says "Reverse charge and OTG" under settings which is off by default. Once turned on, the app worked. The only thing is, I am not sure that I can record directly to the mini sd card within the phone???

Recording to the phone's external SD card is not possible right now, sorry. It's complicated to implement due to restrictions that recent Android versions impose on apps in terms of storage usage, but we will be looking into it soon and will implement it in a future update. I don't think you have to enable USB debugging, try turning it off.
