Who is Dr. Edward B. Fry?

In 1996, Dr. Fry expanded on Dolch’s sight word lists and research and published a book titled “Fry 1000 Instant Words.” His research found that a mere 25 words make up approximately 1/3 of all items published. He discovered that 100 words comprise approximately 1/2 of all publications written, and 300 words make up 65% of all written material.

Fry developed his list based on the facts and he worked to inspire young children to memorize these sightwords to jump-start the reading process. Fry’s sight words lists are widely used today and highly respected by both teachers and parents.

So happy to have found this app. My six year old used to hate practicing her Fry words. Now she loves having an excuse to "play" with my phone. The best part is that she is learning! Totally worth the 99 cents paid.

On most words. I turned my volume all the way up and am still unable to hear most of the words.

The sight words on the cards are EXTREMELY small. They need to be made bigger for small children.
