About this app

Double Helix is a live wallpaper and daydream that features an immersive 3D scene with a stylized version of DNA molecules. Swiping the screen shifts the viewpoint and subtly stirs the particles.

It is built on the libGDX game framework, and uses several custom OpenGL ES shaders to produce the translucent glass material, blurred background, chromatic aberration, and particle depth-of-field transitions.

If you like it, check out the premium version. It has options for setting the scene color (can be linked to battery level) and film-grain, scan-line, and vignette effects.

~ Stellar visuals on ANY screen size/type! ~ Not a CPU hog! ~ STILL being maintained 7yrs later! I bought this way back when the Motorola E2 was released. I knew it was something special when I figured out its power draw was on par with slideshow, and it's proper selection of tweaks INSTANTLY made it my staple screensaver on the dozens of phones since! No, I'm not that brutal to cell phones I'm replacing them bi monthly, a long standing side hustle is cell/laptop/tablet/PC repair. AWESOME!

Awesome visuals! This is still a fantastic live wallpaper, even after all of this time since I first found it.

I've used the paid version of this app for many years now. It's my go to whenever I get a new phone. Maybe I'm resistant to change when it comes to the visual aesthetics.
