Chap Morack
Effective as a dictionary but the crossword is super glitchy. It worked fine for me for months and then all of the sudden it started flashing, blacking out random squares, erasing inputs, and hiding the clues and the keyboard. Issues persisted after uninstall/reinstall. I understand that the crossword is put out by a 3rd party, but it's a shame Dictionary dot com hasn't addressed this issue yet, as multiple people have had this problem.

Though this app's title is on the nose, it does exactly what it says on the tin, and even more! There are two daily words to learn: word of the day & synonym of the day. They have a wide range of knowledgeable articles, all of which are well written, duh. Plus, there are quizzes and little games to boost ones personal lexicon. If you're not familiar with that word you soon will be.

I LOVE the words of the day because they actually challenge and stretch my vocabulary. However, I got a new phone (Galaxy S22) and now can't get notifications. I'm told this app doesn't send notifications. Yet every time I open the app, it wants me to change my settings to get notifications. It's just a vicious cycle! I see others have the same problem. For now, I get the emails instead. I will look into the widget.
