This seemed to be ideal for my needs but for one issue. When you open a game from the database, I can't find any way to close it and start a new board. Maybe this option is available in the Pro version but it needs to be on the trial version to enable it to be assessed properly. I would have given 4 or 5 stars if not for this issue.

Yes, this is a bit hidden: change to edit mode first (top left menu item), then you can for example add a new game to the current database, also using the left menu.

Does this app allow for loading a PGN database? And if so, will it load games in subsequent order? In other words, after reviewing the first game in a database, will it continue to the next game automatically? The reason I ask this, is because I want to use it for memorization of a database I already have prepared. Thank you.

Yes, you can load pgn databases. I suggest to keep each database file to less than 10,000 games. Then it works well. Auto-play can be set up to continue with the next game or you can use gestures to load the next game.
