This app used to be the best option out there. It's flexible, it's capable, and it provides a lot of options. Unfortunately, it seems it's become excessively buggy and very prone to randomly crashing and bogging down the device for minutes at a time when it tries to restart. I've had it happen every few seconds to every few minutes, and it's infuriating. It can't even submit bug reports anymore. Every time I try, it crashes!

I've been using this app for a long time now and I've experienced many 'update lags' in the past, but this latest one has initiated the coup de grace for me. Samsung Galaxy S8+ w/Android Pie is completely incompatible with this app now. I've been patiently waiting for a fix (random, but consistent pauses which render any podcast unlistenable), but nothing comes. So long, Doggcatcher, it was fun while it lasted.

I'd like to give 5 stars for the years past but don't want to mislead anyone. 1 to 2 would be appropriate now but I'll average that out to 3. I sincerely thank the developer for the many years (how many? maybe 10- certainly back to the droid era) of use I've gotten out of my several dollars expenditure. I'd gladly toss more in that direction to keep it going. I don't know exactly when I started having trouble but I think it was Android 11 that started the crashing and slow responses on startup. I still use it every day, and kill and restart it when it dies, which is probably once an hour or so. I'd hoped that Android 12 would clear up the issues but unfortunately it seems worse on my new phone. DoggCatcher is an old friend now, who needs a lot more help getting around. As a software guy who has maintained products over years, I understand the relief that comes from jettisoning that responsibility, so I'll just say goodbye to DC, with thanks.
