The app is a bit nicer looking after the update, but still clunky due to being filled with ads. It would be nice to view older articles; they added a search function, but it seems to only go back about 3-4 months. A Journal Star subscription is helpful for staying informed about my hometown, but $5 a month is quite steep given the small quantity of articles (their writing staff is quite small) and the huge amount of ads.

Great newspaper, horrible app. I pay for a yearly subscription for digital access only. Despite this, every day I have to uninstall and reinstall the app as it tells me that I have reached a limit on free articles. I have tried logging out and logging back in to my pay account, and even contacting customer service. Customer service solution was to uninstall the app, reinstall it, and login again. This issue has been going on for months. **Update 11/15/19. Subscription now works w/o mult logins

Terrible user experience. I have a paid subscription yet ads are forced down my throat; constantly moving the screen, and overlaying articles, forcing me to click to read. It's like their entire site is one big click bait. Way to be spammy and annoy your customers.
