About this app

Light weight app that notifies user at user defined battery levels to either charge the device, or to unplug and stop charging. This helps in observing the 40-80 rule of Li-ion batteries.

Most battery apps on the market only notify when the battery is fully charged, but only a few that notify user at user defined battery levels, and even fewer, if any, that can do so accurately with very little resource. That's why we wrote this app.

The reason why we want to stop charging before a battery is fully charged is to extend the lifespan of the battery. Virtually all mobile devices nowadays uses Lithium batteries and Lithium batteries work best when they are charged in the middle range, say 40% to 80% or 50% to 75%. So if you are really particular about optimizing and extending your battery's lifespan, Battery Charge Notifier could help you achieve it.

◆ Notify when battery charges and discharges to any user defined levels
◆ Sound, Vibrate, LED, and Toast notifications
◆ Notify with user defined sounds (Supports Notification, Ringtone, and Alarm sounds)
◆ LED notification color option on devices with multi-colored LEDs (Know where the notification is from without turning on the screen!)
◆ Repeat notifications
◆ Notification auto cancel after plugging or unplugging device
◆ Do Not Remind Again option to stop further notifications
◆ Displays "Charging/Discharging since..." information so you can keep track of battery health and performance
◆ Start At Boot option to start monitoring after device boot up
◆ Downtime option to disable vibrate and sound notifications at user specified period
◆ Completely Ad-Free!

If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to give us a feedback or drop us a message. Thanks and hope you find the app useful!

◆◆◆ Known Issues ◆◆◆
◆ Issue: If the selected notification sound is located on an external storage (e.g. on a micro-SD card), no notifications will be triggered. This is due to the fact that our app currently doesn't require the permission to read external storage.
Solution: To workaround this issue, the user can move the sound file from the external storage to the internal storage. We are working on requesting this permission as necessary on a future release.
◆ On Android 5.1.1 or order, the Battery Optimization warning is shown on the settings page despite the fact that Battery Optimization isn't available until after Android 6.0.
Solution: Nothing needs to be done as the message is harmless. We will remove this message accordingly for Android versions before 6.0.

◆◆◆ Frequently Asked Questions ◆◆◆
◆ Q: Why is there a persistent notification icon starting from version 3.0.12, on Android 8.0 and above?
A: The persistent notification icon is there mainly to serve two purposes. 1) To let the user know that battery levels are being monitored, 2) A Google requirement which requires all background running apps to show a user noticeable notification.
◆ Q: Is there a way to remove the "persistent notification icon"?
A: Yes! Simply go to the app's settings (the gear icon on the upper right corner), Notification Settings, Battery Level Monitor Service, and disable "Show notifications". Another way is to go to Android Settings, Apps & notifications, Battery Charge Notifier, Notifications, and disable the notification channel called "Battery Level Monitor Service".

My previous review was not posted by Google Play/Battery Charge Notifier. That's disingenuous. I am able to duplicate all features of the app except for temperature. And using my phone's adaptive charging actually does a better job of preserving the battery life. While the actual temperature is no longer displayed, it's obvious the phone stays cooler just by touch. Now I just set an alarm so I can unplug the charger.

It the app has been working for months, that means it is mostly likely caused by config changes. Please make sure the app is given permission to work in the background. The persistent notification is not supposed to be triggered with sound and alarm. It's a foreground service to make sure it's apparent to the user the app is running. Thanks.

Small simple program that does exactly what is needed to monitor alarm charging (so you don't overcharge) and discharging (so you don't drain phone without being aware). As I dictated on app notes, the best way to prolong the life of battery is to keep it charge-discharge to mid range, in my case 20% to 65% (a don't leave phone charging over night).

No ads or "freemium" options, just free. Uses 1.09 MB of storage space V 2.2.2. One option that would be nice would be to base notifications on battery voltage rather than percentage charge. Also note that the voltage reported is different depending on whether it is plugged in at the time or not. I assume that this has nothing to do with the app, but that this is what the phone reports to it.
