Free. Source code is available (it's a pretty easy read, if you're inclined). Small, simple program without bloat and unnecessary permissions. Simple light, nothing more. An immensely popular flashlight app installation was probably the straw that broke the camel's back when I used Android years back. I had handsets hijacked in spectacular fashion, and apparently that was (is?) typical of these stupid flashlight apps. Don't trust me, Google Android flashlight malware or somesuch. Or, just install this!

Unfortunately I no longer need the app because lollipop has built in flashlight. But those of you using kitkat- , this is the torch app to go for. It's free, has no ads and it's open source, so it's guaranteed to not contain any malware

Love that it's open source, love that there are no ads, love that there's no extra crud, but most of all, I especially love that the screen is white with a single toggle switch in the middle (it doubles as a low-output flashlight when the LED isn't needed). No more waking up my wife with my flashlight when I'm trying to get ready in the mornings.
