About this app

Write Japanese teaches you to draw the Japanese kanji, hiragana, and katakana. It covers the basic kana alphabets, and the first ~2,000 kanji characters. Write Japanese teaches you characters you don't know, reviews your drawing of characters you do know, and dynamically repeats characters you are still learning.

Write Japanese uses a Spaced Repetition system (SRS) to repeat characters you've correctly drawn at timed intervals, to maximize your memorization.

Pre-made character lists are included for all 5 levels of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), and for all levels of the Joyou Kanji, learned by Japanese schoolchildren. You can also create your own custom lists.

This is an Android exclusive software. It contains no advertisements. Hiragana, the Joyou kanji level 1, and the JLPT level N5 are free, while the remaining katakana and kanji require a single, one-time in-app purchase to unlock.

Great app for grinding out hiragana and Kanji. It's not quite exaustive, but there's plenty for someone looking to get started. There's an option for difficulty. Turning it all the way up will result in some false incorrect responses. I think the system cuts off a small bit of your stroke, which can result in a stroke "not ending in the right direction". Also I get "stroke should start completely below" marks unless I horribly exaggerate the distance between strokes. Thankfully, you can override

Quite good, wish it showed the stroke order on review page when you got things correct. It also flips the order of the display between correct/incorrect which is confusing. Need the option to retry after review even if you got it right. Wish it had on/kun-yomi readings as well as some of the english translations are a little vague. Still asks for permissions for all my google accounts. Seems like product is abandoned.

I paid for the full version because at first it was really good. It would be 5 stars but after writing a few kanji and pressing the next button to grade them it just freezes and loads forever and I have to restart it. At first it would happen very rarely but now it's happening like every 2 kanji and it's so annoying!
