About this movie

301 days have passed since Ray (Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd –True Blood), Claire(Andrea Riseborough – Birdman, Oblivion), and their daughter, Zoe (Emily Alyn Lind –The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia, Revenge) found refuge underground. With nothing to distract them from their own fear, they hold onto hope for a normal family life above the surface someday. What looms above the cement prison they call home? The one thing they know for certain is that there is something terrifying and strange that threatens their fragile existence, and it is coming for them.

This movie, in my opinion, was awful. The twist was good, but was then immediately negated with a stupid sugary-sweet scene. The child's character wouldn't be quiet, and when your very survival depends upon staying hidden and quiet, you would think that after the first, oh, 100 days, the kid would get it. Instead there's a LOT of yelling and noise-making, and not just from the kid. Incredibly stupid decisions are made, and then more noise and dumb decisions. Flashbacks to a previous time not shown yet are understandable, but a scene that happened twenty minutes ago? If your message is so convoluted that you flashback MULTIPLE times to something that happened an hour ago to make sure the audience gets the point, consider reworking the scene, or, at the VERY least, don't condescend to the audience. I really was hoping to like this, but it was really bad.

What The Heck Was I Looking At? This is just one weird confusing movie. And those flashbacks were just not very good, the ones in "I Am Legend" were more interesting and told a better back story than this one. After watching the ending you'll be asking yourself...Just what in the world was that family even hiding from? Probably would say watch a spoiler review rather than watch this movie, it might save you an hour and a half of a disappointment.

Good twist at end.. 15 years ago I would have given this movie 3/5 but since my standards are much lower thanks to netflix I would say this definitely is surprising. It does leave you wanting more information, some of the scenes with the little girl were eye rollers.. I recommend.
