Seeing it as a kid then, I remember being floored for weeks after leaving the theatre. To this day I know, as others had then, that seeing what Disney and Lisberger were doing lit a fire that burns today in the majority. The movie was geared for the younger generation, to give us a window into something that's in our everyday lives now. What's surprising to most, is the fact that we UNDERSTOOD the basics from that story. They sparked a fire and curiousity about computers, IO terminals and pathways for data. What happens to it, how it basically functions to get things done and achieve it's ultimate designed purpose. Seeing Legacy at age 48, that very curiosity and excitement was just as eager to see what's happened after 25 years. It's a great story that's not all that simple to tell. Somehow... they were able to then and proud they had again 25 years later with Legacy.

This is the film that started what I think is the best Sci-Fi franchise ever! TRON is an amazing film with lovable characters, intriguing story, beautiful settings/visuals, great special effects (for it's time), intimidating villains, and pretty much everything to make a story amazing. TRON-JA-307020 (or Tron for short) is an amazing hero who fights with honor. He helped the main character, Kevin Flynn, throughout this movie while getting into epic disc fights, amazing stunts, etc. The main villain, Master Control Program (MCP for short) is an EXTREMELY intimidating villain, even scarier than Darth Vader, especially since MCP doesn't have a humanoid body, he's a gigantic pillar of digitized wisdom and evil. The right hand man of the MCP, Sark, is just as frightening, being obsessed with torturing programs, humiliating and then proceeding to kill them in the Game Grids (a gladiator-like digitized arena), and just having a really frightening humanoid appearance. I honestly just think that the entire TRON franchise is great, and everything from the TRON franchise is a must watch/read/play.

I'm partial, I must admit, to the Tron Franchise. This can be a bit hard to fully understand the first time through. Its really a metaphor of the digital version we make of ourselves when we use a computer. Not all that unique, but when you remember this was way before social media, you begin to realize how ahead of its time this was. And, they hand painted each frame to get the glow look. It was an incredible idea.
