There are few movies that capture the reality of musicians in music. This falls flat on 2 basic levels. 1) that no one within an institution of bright headstrong wannabes stands up to the mental abuse.2) that the only consideration for this musical director is speed of play and not groove and feel. For these two reasons, the film falls down and becomes Rocky, within a music college. I don't doubt the integrity of the performances, but the reality of a music college such as this, is that the search for quality extends beyond who can play the fastest, irrespective of feel. Drum teacher and ex music student!!

Outstanding performance by both main actors! It truly puts you on edge, it's nervewrecking watching some scenes! SPOILER ALERT **** If you think that fletcher tries to get revenge on Andrew at the end then you NEED to watch & listen to the movie again!! I can't believe how much people have got this all wrong! Have you been watching this movie with your eyes closed?! Its called pushing people to their limits, seeing how well they work under pressure & out of their own control.

Had high hopes for the film but it turned out to be a bit far fetched and not even interesting to watch, just painful.
