About this movie

12 YEARS A SLAVE tells the incredible true story of one man's fight for survival and freedom. In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender), as well as unexpected kindness, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon's chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) will forever alter his life. 2013 Bass Films, LLC and Monarchy Enterprises S.a.r.l.

Read book, saw movie. Sad to think one race of people felt so superior to another that they felt they had a right to treat them so cruelly. At least it did have a happy ending for the main character. All in all it is worth having a look at.

this film was moving it showed a side of slavery that ive never seen it was real and I felt every scene as if I were there, I was immersed in emotion which just took this story to another level the silent scenes let my train of thought catch up with my emotions it was a great movie.

Such a telling and moving film. I have read the book and this film is very true to the authours telling of his horrific story. I felt angry at the injustice of his treatment and many other people that suffer in the ugly world of slavery and human trafficking.
