The book was better. Much better. This had it's moments but it was overlong and quite slow and if I'd known that Chris Columbus had his fingers on it I never would've bought it - that "producer" doesn't do any movie he touches any favors. It had the potential to be so much better but it never really got off the ground - it was clunky and lazy. The actors all did fine work - even the lil kid who could barely speak, and the outfits were sweet! But yeah, get the book instead.

With Bryce Dallas Howard from, Jurassic World and Octavia Spencer from the television, comedy series Mom. They take you back to, a time which was not so hospitable and a little more cruel to black maids throughout 9 whole years. We also see Allison Janney from the television comedy series Mom. The Help is bound to, make you laugh and may bring tension to, the brain and tears to the eyes.

Really sweet touching film with a cutting social commentary on the nascent civil rights movement of the time. Fantastic debuts by Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis who hold the screen as strong independent black women trapped by circumstance
