About this movie

Inventor Flint Lockwood thought he saved the world when he destroyed his most infamous invention -- a machine that turned water into food causing cheeseburger rain and spaghetti tornadoes. But Flint soon learns that his invention survived and is now combining food and animals to create "foodimals!" Flint and his friends embark on a mouth-watering mission to battle hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, hippotatomuses, cheesepiders and other foodimals to save the world -- again!

The good: BARRY THE STRAWBERRY IS MY LIL GUY!! Deserves his own movie that one ~ he's the BESTEST! The film itself is sumptuously colorful and teaches the value of true friendship and honor. The not so good: There's a term us vegans use to describe those who can't see the wood for the trees: Cognitive dissonance. Flint and his pals realize that the foodimals are sentient beings who feel love, fear, pain, joy, and they mean to save them. Yet Mr Lockwood goes fishing - which is, let's be honest, the murder of innocent, sentient beings. "Meat" is actually the flesh of dead animals. A cheeseburger is the ground up remains of a cow who was repeatedly raped, had her babies taken away and milk stolen by the dairy industry: someONE's dead body and the congealed, pus/feces/blood filled breast milk of another species. It's a movie that perpetuates this blindness and ignorance that it's ok to eat animals and their secretions despite animal agriculture being a HOLOCAUST and the most ecologically destructive industry on our only habitable planet. So there's a lot of irresponsible hypocrisy here. I've never read the books and I missed the first movie so don't know how it compares to either. I still have some fond regard for this flick and hope that humanity and the film industry evolve, sooner rather than later because honestly folks, we are all running out of time...

It's not a bad movie, but the vibe and hilarity is not quite like the first one. The originality of the concept has faded a bit. That said, will still keep you entertained and give you the occasional laugh.

The original was great and unfortunately the sequel disappoints. While it's still charming and funny, thanks to the creatures, the rest isn't as fresh as in the first film. Only for the fans wanting more of the same.
