About this movie

Starring Eddie Redmayne ("Les Misérables") and Felicity Jones ("The Amazing Spider-Man 2"), this is the extraordinary story of one of the world's greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde. Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of - time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed. The film is based on the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, by Jane Hawking, and is directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh ("Man on Wire"). the actors did a fantastic job of prtraying how hard a life like that would've been for everyone involved. 10/10. the attention to detail. you can see the startings of the disease right at the start. subtle, but it's there. but only after do you think to look for it. showing that diseases that pop up suddenly have had showing signs from earlier on, you just never looked for it. things as subtle as his hand on her back during the dance, the way his head slowly tilts more and knocking the mug over

From all the biographies of Stephen Hawking that I've read, this movie is very accurate and a great dramatization of the early life of Hawking. Not only that but the visual impact of being able to actually see what it would've been like for him is something none of the books I've read have been able to portray so aptly. The accomplishments Dr. Hawking has been able to achieve despite his disability are astonishing and this movie is a testament to that.

While I have the utmost respect for Stephen and all that he accomplished, despite his medical challenges. I question the lack of reasoning behind using a theory proposed by Einstein as the title of this film... "Hawking" alone would have been sufficient.
