So the most solid thing in the film is it scoring. The music is well done. The story frankly meanders. It borrows heavily from creepypasta. Not just slendy... which I thought would be fun. But its really fails to make good on some oh god no moments... that the writers or director for whatever reason... Just decided to let slip by unused. Also they gave the monster an ability... and then had it make use of that ability to an actual effect... once. WIth out spoiling it the finish... the final climax... make even less sense. Its really needed a better director. Or an editor. Its all over the place, in places its too brief in other they spend way too much time on slice of life character bits. Its not terrible but it also really not in any way besides the score great.

This film has to be one of the WORST horror films I have ever seen. The characters are painlessly boring, the script dull and the music... well it made my head hurt. I found myself hoping early on in the movie, that Jay would just die already so I could go clean house or.... pull weeds in the back yard, anything that would be more enjoyable than watching this so called suspense master piece. On the other hand, the actual "plot" could have been something amazing. Shame it was executed so awfully.

It was a highly suspenseful, incredibly disturbing movie that plays with your emotions and expectations. The idea behind this movie is revolutionary in that we never get the answers that would ground this film to any particular rhyme or reason: there is evil for the sake of evil, and the mind can be a pretty evil place. The ending, also lackluster, is very concrete in its meaning, and I think it's that your past and your fears will always follow you. I wish there would have been less horror movie cliches at points (the dumb blonde, the love interest, bad choices made among the group of young friends, the pool scene in general), but I guess no movie can be perfect. That is why I'm giving this movie four stars: because it is unique and engaging, but uses gimmicks sometimes which somewhat rob it of its dignity.
