About this movie

Oscar Nominees Maggie Gyllenhaal (2009, Supporting Actress, "Crazy Heart") and Viola Davis (2011, Actress, "The Help") lead a stellar cast in this empowering drama inspired by actual events. Hard-working single mom Jamie Fitzpatrick (Gyllenhaal) is concerned that John Adams Elementary is letting her daughter down. Teaming with a caring teacher (Davis) who wants the best future for her own son, she sets out to improve attitudes and elevate the school's academic standards. Despite the odds, with courage, hope and persistence, the women just might prevail in this uplifting film that also stars Rosie Perez and Academy Award Winner Holly Hunter (1993, Actress, "The Piano") .

Great Movie! Single parents uniting to fight for their child's education. If we don't, who will. My 2 sons, out of 3, grew up with learning disabilities. I eventually put them in a private Christian school to help them excel for a few years. Now as grown men, they are doing well. Oldest son is married with a family and middle son is in College, engaged & on the Dean's list. My youngest son _19yrs attends Baylor -smart& humble. Thank God for all of his blessings & help from Church(HCBC) &friends &family. 💖

This Won't Back Down is amazing and had me watering up more than once. It's an inspirational, powerful, and heartwarming story. The only explanation I can come up with for the horrible reviews on these "professional" review site is that the unions paid them off.
