About this movie

BATMAN faces his ultimate challenge as the mysterious Red Hood takes GOTHAM CITY by firestorm. One part vigilante, one part criminal kingpin, Red Hood begins cleaning up GOTHAM with the efficiency of BATMAN, but without following the same ethical code. Killing is an option. And when THE JOKER falls in the balance between the two, hard truths are revealed and old wounds are reopened. Not the best of the DC animated movies, but definitely not the worst. Great story, but the writing and voice acting were both hit-and-miss, and both Nightwing and Alfred were underused - they were mostly there to provide dialogue for the viewer to latch on to while Batman was silently being Batman, but they didn't really say much that moved the story forward. This whole story could have been told without dialogue at all. Which makes it even better that the art style was so good and the exposition was minimal and largely animated, rather than spoken. Maybe I could ask for a better Batman movie, but for every Son of Batman I get, I'll also get a Batman and Harley Quinn. I'm definitely not disappointed.

Loved everything about this story. Batman, Night Wing, Black Mask and Robin were portrayed perfectly. The guy who does Bender's voice on Futurama does The Joker, which was surprisingly, very well done. Still would've preferred Mark Hamil's rendition, but this will do until Hamil brings his Joker out of retirement. Great story, detailed animation, excellent voice cast. 4/5

Between the retelling of " A Death in the Family." and the new Red Hood stories, this is the best way to condense it all into a story that won't give kids nightmares. You don't have to know all of the ins and outs of the DC Multiverse to enjoy. My only complaint is Robin not having the classic costume in the flashback.
