VISwijzer

The VISwijzer assesses fish and shellfish, which are for sale in Netherlands on sustainability.

Fish can get four different colors:

Blue
Best choice, choose the MSC label for sustainable fishing and ASC certification for responsible breeding.

Green
Good choice, this fish is not overfished or farmed carefully, with minimal damage to nature.

Yellow
This fish is a second choice. There are still problems with fishing or farming.

Red
Buy this fish, they are overfished or mode of capture or culture is too stressful
for nature.

The VISwijzer you can easily find out which fish is safe and what is not. Very handy if you fish shop in supermarkets or seek out a delicious meal in a restaurant! The VISwijzer is an initiative of Goodfish Foundation, North Sea Foundation (SDN) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
