About this app

Now customize style and shortcuts with the Retro Clock Settings app, for sale on Google Play!

Retro Clock Widget was one of the first clock widgets available for android and has been downloaded by millions of users over the years.

This app provides a home screen clock and date widget based on the classical mechanical flipping clock. The widgets act as shortcuts to the systems alarm clock and calendar applications.

When you want to customize the look and feel (like the colors, transparency, or shortcut applications), you can do so using the Retro Clock Settings companion app also available on Google Play.

To use the widget:
- long press an empty spot on the home screen
- select "Widgets"
- tap on Retro Clock / Date to add it to the home screen

Last update completely screwed up the aspect ratio on my LG G7. I used to be able to add the 2 x 1 clock only widget and blow it up one size to fit perfectly between 2 rows of app shortcuts on both outside edges of the screen. Now when I try that, it only centers the smaller clock widget, and doesn't blow it up one size. If this isn't fixed quickly, I'm going to uninstall and go with another widget for my clock. NOT happy! UPDATE, developer was very responsive and helpful, fixed in recent update

Thanks for reporting this. There was indeed a scaling bug affecting certain LG devices. This is fixed in the 3.0.2 update that is rolling out now.

Update : The old standby is back! Good job on the Android 9 update. Same as the previous version but now it works again! Previous post - 2 stars I used it for years, liked it. I'm old enough to remember the original flip card clocks, how cool they were! But just updated my Galaxy S9 Plus to Android 9 and the widget stopped working. Still looks nice but time does not update. So sad.

I like that this widget is small (only a couple hundred K) and that it uses the full 4x1 space. However, I'm not crazy about the flip clock look. It would be great if the developer could just swap out the flip clock for solid numbers & letters while still using the full 4x1. But, the flip clock look will not stop me from using this excellent app. Thank you to the Dev. Keep up the good work! I'm going to buy the paid version to help support development. :)
