Babylon 5, a classic that stands the test of time. When it first came out more than 20 years ago it set a standard for Science Fiction television that has yet to be matched. Although by today's standards the computer generated special effects are rather crude they still work because they support the series's exceptional five year story arc. The strong narrative that runs through the series has the kind of twists and turns that sometimes only make sense many episodes or even seasons later. The way JMS seeded the first two seasons with plot threads and points about Earth, the Shadows and the Psi Corps can only be described as a work of genius. Babylon 5 is a must see for any space opera Science Fiction fan, and is a work that influenced everything since. In my mind its simply the best television Science Fiction series of the last 25 years!

Not since the days of the 1978 classic Blake's 7 when you had a planned story arc all the way through the series did you think it could get any better (thanks to the late great Terry Nation)...! Then J. Michael Straczynski gave us Babylon 5.. a quality tv series in its own rite (Syraczynski often stating Blakes 7 as his insperation n wanted to do a continuing story through out its run.. a start, middle and finish)! All in all Babylon 5 worked until he decided to expand with Cusade n that went tits up

Heroes became villians , the fool became King and the monster became a saint. Sci-fi at it's best but with the story and characters the main focus for it all. The first season was a bit ropey but once the 2nd season kicked off it took you on a wild ride that you just had to end. Watch it.
