Tim immediately has a crush on new-girl Rachel and Gareth is up to his customary antics. Meanwhile, Tim's new Sales Manager post has gone to his head and he's becoming increasingly dismissive of Dawn. Elsewhere in the office Tim and Rachel really hit it off, much to Dawn's discomfort. David attempts to win over the Swindon employees with a lunchtime drinking session. However it's a wash and he ends the day getting drunk and reading self penned poetry to a mortified Dawn.

It's Trudy's birthday and in traditional highbrow office style she receives some sex toys. Meanwhile David's radical new business strategy of "team individuality" fails to impress Neil. However, David gets a boost in ego when headhunters from a public speaking agency arrive and for some inexplicable reason want to hire him. Trudy's party kicks into full swing and David is annoyed to discover that Finchy and Neil are old friends. In an effort to impress and assert his manliness, he is caught with his foot in his mouth.

However, Gareth finds comfort in the company of Simon the computer geek who is installing a firewall and able to talk authoritatively on all the subjects closest to Gareth's heart. Things seem to be getting worse for David as he first finds out that the staff have given him a nickname and then is reprimanded by Neil for being incompetent. Perhaps his ego will receive a boost from the success and acclaim of his motivational training that evening?

About this show

Ricky Gervais stars in this internationally recognized, BAFTA winning comedy set in suburban London at Wernham Hogg, a dysfunctional paper company where life is stationary. David Brent is a petty, pompous boss who thinks he's the funniest, most popular man in the world. Pedantic and insufferable underling Gareth, Assistant to the Regional Manager, agrees with him. Tim is popular and funny but the joke is on him, as he's stuck in the middle of their little world - a world in which he hates everything except the receptionist Dawn. Told through the lens of a documentary film crew, this hilarious British series follows the day-to-day troubles of the firm's uninspired desk jockeys while capturing every cringe-inducing moment on film.

I have worked in a office for year and rarely a week goes by without some Office reference to lighten the mood. At home, both series have been watched by my family many times and it is always hilarious. Strangely, my wife hates it and generally it seems to be less enjoyed by women, it seems - although my daughters love it as much as I do. The series 1 & 2 were masterpieces and would have four stars if the xmas specials were included.

Gervais is brilliant if 1 likes his style. However, it is of an acquired taste, and if you don't like Gervais, you don't like the show. It's that simple, because there is no one else to turn to, No one else look really care about, unlike the US version, which after a few episodes, you have an emotional attachment to each character, and by season 2 of the US version, Carell becomes a lot more likeable.

Why are people reviewing the price? I'm quite capable of working out whether something is good value. Individually their expensive but its only 5.99 for the series which is fair to be honest. Episode 5 is classic....
